The National Port Authority – APN which isย an entity that isย affiliated with the MTC, has gone ahead andย granted $540m nod for Peru Hydrogen port project – Horizonte de Verano SAC when it comes to itsย development in the Arequipa region.
The initial phase of the project is made up of two single-buoy moorings as well as subsea pipelines. It will additionally have a maritime terminal with an ammonia storage system situated on the coast. It will alsoย have thermally insulated tanks in orderย for storing this compound at cryogenic temperatures. Additionally, it willย have a subsea pipeline system so as toย supply ammonia to tanker ships as well as a desalination plant.
Interestingly, with $540m nod for Peru Hydrogen port project which will comprise a plant that is going toย produce hydrogen and green ammonia,ย characterized by being different from hydrocarbons, andย it is through this process that the ammonia is extracted from seawater and air, with no CO2 emissionย in its use. Its production is going toย be powered by distinctย renewable energy sources such as solar and wind turbines.
It is well to be noted that theย estimated total expenditure for the Horizonte de Verano project is US$ 540 million, andย it will be constructed in five phases, with the first phase estimated to cost US$ 120 million and is going to be operational by 2029 end.
