AI Summary

Sungrow Hydrogen has been awarded a contract to deliver 48 MW of alkaline electrolyzers along with two purification systems for Phase I of theย 600 MW off-grid solar-to-hydrogen project from China Coal Pingshuoย in Shanxi. This project will substitute fossil-derived hydrogen with green hydrogen in the open-pit coal mines of the company, using theย cost-saving โ€œ4-to-1โ€ flexible configuration ofย Sungrow.

Sungrow Hydrogen has won the solar-to-hydrogen project contract to supply 48 MW of alkaline electrolyzer equipment for China Coal Pingshuo’s 600 MW off-grid renewable hydrogen project Phase I. The idea is simple – to go ahead andย produce green hydrogen from solar energy so asย to clean up the traditional coal-chemical production.

Sungrow will supply eight 1,200 Nmยณ/h electrolyzers as well as two 4,800 Nmยณ/h purification systems, which will be interconnected via its โ€œ4-to-1โ€ flexible hydrogen solution in orderย to optimize cost efficiency. The eight electrolyzers will supply green hydrogen to China Coal Pingshuoโ€™s open-pit coal mines in Shuozhou in Shanxi Province, where it will replace the fossil-derived hydrogen currently used there. Contract value was not disclosed.

Expanding global footprint

It is worth noting that Sungrow has also been busy outside of China. Its first European sale was a 2MW Sungrow system installed in a Spanish cement factory through a deal with BrightHy Solutions. In March 2026, the company announced consecutive alkaline and PEM shipments to customers in Europe, Oman, and South America a proof, it says, of its capacity to deliver projects around the world.
