AI Summary

LONGi, the Chinese OEM, has gone on to launch a factory-assembled alkaline electrolyzer platform as well as AI-based operations software that is aimed at cutting CapEx by almost 35% and lead times by 40%.

The new system, which is called HyBlock, happens to mark a strategic transition toward modular, outdoor-ready gigawatt-scale deployments that target the international markets, including Europe.

LONGi, which is a Chinese solar and electrolyzer manufacturer, has gone ahead and introduced a new factory-standardized electrolyzer platform called HyBlock which is designed to streamline the deployment when it comes to large-scale green hydrogen projects.

The company claims that the system, which is engineered for outdoor use along with high-capacity installations, will enable much faster build times and also simplify project implementation.

As per the company, the installation can be decreased by almost 65% with fewer interfaces as well as more parallelism, therefore helping the customers overcome long-term barriers to expenses, complexity, and of course, time. LONGi is estimating around 35% CapEx savings and a 40% reduction when it comes to lead time.

It is well to be noted that the launch of electrolyzer platform called HyBlock happens to follow a broader trend among the electrolyzer manufacturers, which includes Nel and Electric Hydrogen, as well as John Cockerill, who are all developing modular and prefabricated electrolyzer plants in order to lower EPC – engineering, procurement, and construction expenditures. In addition to HyBlock, LONGi also rolled out the HySmart operational platform, which makes use of AI to track as well as diagnose the pressurized alkaline system, and that too in real time.

The company noted that it maximizes the value of electricity every kilowatt-hour and per cubic meter of hydrogen, adding that HySmart can go ahead and cut inspection times by almost 80% and also anticipate failures 72 hours in advance with more than 98% precision.

The Chief Strategy and ESG Officer with LONGi Green Energy, Zhang Haiyi, said that both the innovations are designed so as to ease the burden of capital and also operating expenditure.

He said that the real breakthrough is not just in the performance when it comes to the electrolyzer, but also in the rethinking of how the project is ideated, built, and rolled out. Apparently, LONGi’s hydrogen subsidiary went on to cite project experience since 2021 as foundational to new designs. While Europe has traditionally gone on to favor local OEMs and has also focused on operational expertise, LONGi hopes that the industrialized simplicity of HyBlock can actually shift perceptions. One of the recent IEA reports highlighted the significance of such scalable solutions as the hydrogen markets grow.
