The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, along with the Ministry of Energy of Mongolia, went on to sign an MOU on renewable energy and green hydrogen as well as clean energy infrastructure in order to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The deal was signed by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, as well as Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister Togmid Dorjkhand. The partnership will focus on knowledge transfer, capacity development, and the discovery of joint projects, which may contribute towards the transformation and diversification of the energy sector of Mongolia.
According to Al Mazrouei, the MoU represents the commitment made by the UAE to diversify its international energy alliances and establish practical collaboration that is based on the national needs and priorities of Mongolia. He spoke about the potential of Mongolia for renewable energy and stated that the cooperation could help ensure energy safety and environmentally friendly economic development.
It is worth noting that as per the MOU on renewable energy and green hydrogen, both the UAE as well as Mongolia will look at possibilities to leverage the experience of the UAE within clean energy development and project execution in order to pinpoint practical and scalable projects. Areas of cooperation consist of green hydrogen and renewable energy, as well as related infrastructure, with an emphasis on projects that can address the development needs of Mongolia and expand its energy portfolio.
Interestingly, the MoU additionally allows for the exchange of technical know-how as well as expertise between both the countries. Capacity-building initiatives and training programs are anticipated to develop specific skills and bolster institutional capacities within the clean energy industry.
In addition, both the sides will look into financially and technically feasible investment possibilities and promote greater private sector engagement. There will also be a strong possibility of promotion of public-private sector cooperation so as to support the development of the infrastructure that is needed when it comes to renewables as well as other clean energy technologies.
According to the agreement, the UAE and Mongolia will set up a joint working team in order to determine priority areas when it comes to cooperation. The group will examine the viability of recommended projects and opportunities and track their development.
The fact is that the new partnership is an advancement toward the direction of deeper energy cooperation between both the UAE as well as Mongolia. The two countries seek to capitalize on the experience within clean energy and project development of the UAE with renewable energy potential when it comes to Mongolia to explore potential projects that encourage energy transitions, bolster security of energy, and help contribute toward long-term sustainable economic development.
