Singapore-based global digital infrastructure platform DayOne has raised a four-year green loan of SGD 530 million from DBS, OCBC, and UOB to finance the construction of its first data center in Singapore. It is also anticipated to be the first data center in Singapore to feature on-site solid oxide fuel cell – SOFC power generation as an element of a proof-of-concept effort exploring hydrogen-based solutions for energy.

The deal to build 20MW Hydrogen-Ready Data Center in Singapore comes in the face of rising global demand, especially for digital infrastructure, fuelled by the swift implementation of artificial intelligence and cloud computing as well as 5G technologies.

The loan, which adheres to internationally recognized Green Loan Guidelines, will contribute to the development of a 20 MW hydrogen-ready data center from DayOne. The facility, situated in the Western part of Singapore, broke ground in July 2025 and is projected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027.

DBS, OCBC, and UOB are the Joint Mandated Lead Arrangers and Bookrunners as well as Green Loan Coordinators for the facility. DBS is also functioning as the Facility Agent and Security Agent.

The 20MW Hydrogen-Ready Data Center in Singapore is built for sustainability, with vertical building-integrated photovoltaics – BIPV as well as hybrid air-liquid cooling technologies to improve efficiency in energy use.

The facility earned BCA Green Mark Platinum (provisional) certification, which is the highest Green Mark granted by the Building and Construction Authority in Singapore according to the Green Mark for Data Centers Scheme, in December 2025.

Since its launch in 2022, DayOne has quickly built a strong footprint in Asia and Europe, with a presence across Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Finland, Singapore, and Malaysia, as well as Spain.

According to the Group Head of Institutional Banking at DBS, Han Kwee Juan, “Demand for digital infrastructure is accelerating as AI and cloud computing continue to reshape economies across Asia. Drawing on our expertise in financing digital and renewable infrastructure projects, we are pleased to partner DayOne and the bank consortium to finance Singapore’s first data centre to pioneer a proof-of-concept for hydrogen-based energy. Singapore is well-positioned to lead financing of green and energy-efficient digital infrastructure in Asia.”

The Head of Global Corporate Banking, OCBC, Elaine Lam, opines that “Singapore’s first data centre incorporating hydrogen power represents an important milestone in the evolution of sustainable digital infrastructure.
