AI Summary

Linde LienHwa, which is the top supplier of industrial gas when it comes to Taiwan, has gone ahead and announced that its industrial decarbonization applications are continuing to expand. Several well-known companies, such as Taiwan Cement Corporation – TCC, Walsin Lihwa Jin Lian Cheng, as well as Lo-Toun Steel and Iron Works, have embraced its oxy-fuel combustion technology. The technology can go on to boost the production capability by over 50% while at the same time also lowering the fuel consumption as much as 50% through decreasing the exhaust gas volumes and enhancing the combustion efficiency.

Meanwhile, Linde LienHwa is collaborating with various partners so as to connect the logistics, transportation as well as the hydrogen sectors via a Hydrogen-as-a-Service – HaaS model in order to accelerate the implementation of hydrogen applications. The company is taking part in Net-Zero Taiwan & Energy Taiwan 2026 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, from October 14 to 16, showcasing its efforts when it comes to hydrogen mobility, industrial decarbonization as well as energy efficiency.

The clean energy market is still growing, the International Energy Agency – IEA said in its “Energy Technology Perspectives 2026” earlier in 2026.

Investment when it comes to low-emissions hydrogen production projects rose 80% in 2025 from the year before, which apparently is the largest increase as far as clean energy technologies are concerned. The market for clean energy overall is expected to double in terms of value to US$3 trillion by 2035.

Oxy-fuel combustion – a blessing for industrial decarbonization and the energy transition

In 2024, the Ministry of Environment – MOENV issued a total of 3 subsidiary regulations in succession, promoting the carbon fee system in Taiwan, marking a new era of carbon pricing. Oxy-fuel combustion technology can help carbon-intensive industries boost their combustion processes and enhance their energy efficiency and is a key option for industrial decarbonization, opines the Vice President and Head of Merchant & Clean Energy at Linde LienHwa, Jeffery Shan.

Companies like TCC, Walsin Lihwa, Jin Lian Cheng, and Lo-Toun Steel and Iron Works are using the technology as part of their wider efforts to save energy and cut carbon emissions.

It is well to be noted that Chiyoda Steel, which is a Japanese steelmaker, has adopted OXYGON, a flameless oxy-fuel combustion solution. Performance tests have gone on to show a 58.2% reduction on petrol consumption, with the preheating time for steel ladles shortened from five hours 40 minutes to three hours.

The benefits of oxy-fuel and pure oxygen combustion, including the ability to switch to lower-carbon fuels, process improvements, and increased operational efficiency, are also incorporated into company strategies for voluntary emissions reductions.

Tailor-Made Solutions Provide Flexible Investment, cut fuel consumption by up to 50%, and increase production capacity by almost 50%

Oxy-fuel combustion uses oxygen instead of or in addition to combustion air to reduce the dilution effect of nitrogen in the air and increase energy efficiency.

Linde LienHwa develops tailor-made solutions to meet the process and equipment requirements of its customers, Shan said. By reducing exhaust gas volumes and improving combustion efficiencies, these solutions can lead to a more than 50 percent increase in production capacity and up to a 50 percent reduction in fuel consumption.

The solutions also do not require an additional equipment footprint and offer flexibility regarding fuel types and different furnace types. The company’s flameless pure-oxygen combustion technology can exclude the 79% of air that is nitrogen from the combustion process, cutting the reheating time at least in half.

Hydrogen transportation is increasingly being driven by heavy-duty commercial vehicles

SNE Research, a market research company, observed a trend of strong demand for commercial vehicles and weakening demand for passenger vehicles, based on the sales mix of various types of hydrogen vehicles in regions around the world in the first half of 2025.

The global hydrogen vehicle market is expected to rise from US$57.1 billion in 2023 to US$427.3 billion in 2031, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 29.4%. Heavy-duty trucks are the only fast-growing market segment for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the IEA said.

Heavy-duty trucks, buses, and logistics vehicles are the main movers behind the development of hydrogen-powered transportation around the world,’ said Christine H. Miao, Vise President of Communications & Hydrogen Energy, Linde LienHwa Industrial Gas – LLH.

Linde LienHwa, which completed its hydrogen refueling station in 2025, has partnered with its affiliates Lien Hwa New Energy and Asia Hydrogen Energy to further link logistics fleets with transportation operators and launch hydrogen-powered trucks that meet European standards. Integrating procurement and service models, the company intends to reduce customers’ upfront capital expenditure and speed up the uptake of hydrogen transportation.

Miao stressed that Linde LienHwa is taking an incremental approach to developing the Hydrogen-as-a-Service – HaaS model with a flexible integration strategy in cooperation with its partners. The initiative aims to offer customers reliable hydrogen supplies, reduce barriers to hydrogen mobility uptake, and link hydrogen supply with end-use applications to stimulate the development of an integrated industry ecosystem.

Hydrogen-as-a-Service – HaaS is a new clean energy business model that offers customers access to reliable services without the need to buy expensive equipment or build their own infrastructure. Services may be provided on a long-term contract basis or on a per-use basis.

At Net-Zero Taiwan & Energy Taiwan 2026, Linde LienHwa is showcasing its “Hydrogen for the Future, Leading the Low-Carbon Transition” theme. The company intends to focus on three strategic pillars – hydrogen mobility, industrial decarbonization as well as energy efficiency. The exhibition will showcase the evolution of the energy transition and will include booth seminars in which industry professionals and customer partners will discuss insights, challenges, and outlooks pertaining to energy conservation and emissions reduction.
