H2APEX Group SCA, which is a leading developer and operator of green hydrogen plants for the decarbonization of industry and infrastructure as well as mobility, and Lhyfe, which is one of the leaders when it comes to the generation of green and renewable hydrogen for the decarbonization of mobility and industry, have extended their collaboration so as to promote the increasing demand for renewable hydrogen in Germany.
The Lhyfe project will supply H2APEX with a maximum of 100 tonnes of RFNBO-certified renewable hydrogen per year for the next two years, according to a longer-term agreement. The agreement reinforces the cooperation between both the companies and further improves the availability as far as renewable hydrogen for mobility and industrial applications is concerned throughout Germany.
It is well to be noted that Germany is one of the most vibrant hydrogen markets in Europe. Growing demand from mobility and industry as well as changing governmental requirements for renewable fuels is speeding up the growth of the market and expanding the necessity of dependable renewable hydrogen supply chains.
The collaboration brings together two well-established players in the hydrogen value chain. The larger deal is symbolic of a wider trend in the green hydrogen market. As new production abilities come online at various times throughout numerous projects and demand for renewable hydrogen in Germany expected to grow in tandem, agreements like these have grown into one way to secure available certified volumes of green hydrogen to secure a consistent supply for customers. Both H2APEX and Lhyfe are focused on facilitating the move to a climate-neutral energy system by providing scalable availability of renewable hydrogen as the German and European markets keep expanding.
According to the founder and CEO of Lhyfe, Matthieu Guesné, “Germany continues to be one of Europe’s most important hydrogen markets. Expanding our cooperation with H2APEX reflects the increasing demand for RFNBO-certified renewable hydrogen and underlines the importance of strong partnerships across the hydrogen value chain. Together, we are helping customers accelerate their decarbonization efforts while supporting the development of a robust hydrogen ecosystem.”
Peter Rößner, H2APEX Group CEO, opines, “Security and reliability of supply are our highest priorities. At the same time, demand for green hydrogen is growing faster than new production assets can currently be brought into operation across the market. Customers increasingly perceive H2APEX as a trusted partner that can deliver comprehensive hydrogen solutions along the entire value chain. To meet this growing demand, we combine our own production capacities and infrastructure projects with long-term partnerships such as our cooperation with Lhyfe. This enables us to provide customers with reliable and scalable access to renewable hydrogen while supporting the hydrogen market ramp-up in Germany.”
The collaboration is a sign of a wider market trend. Hydrogen projects, infrastructure, and demand will continue to grow, and the need for collaboration between producers, infrastructure providers, and end users has grown ever more important. Lhyfe and H2APEX are working together to combine renewable hydrogen production with downstream infrastructure and customer solutions to speed up the implementation of hydrogen across Germany and also throughout Europe.
